Brown recluse spiders are known for their secretive nature, as they prefer to live in warm, dry, and dark areas, such as basements, crawl spaces and closets. They can also be found in seldom used clothing, shoes, or shoeboxes. Like other spiders, the brown recluse is not aggressive, however if the spider feels attacked or trapped it may bite and inject venom. Brown recluse venom can cause severe allergic reactions and requires medical attention.
